Exploring Renewable Energy Sources

When we discuss eco-friendly energy we are describing power that delivers energy from resources that will certainly not be depleted since of our usage of them. Eco-friendly power is an alternate to non-renewable nonrenewable fuel source power for factors aside from the aspect of non-depletion.

One basic advantage of renewable resource, as well as the factor environmentalists around the world are supporter its usage, is that it does produce greenhouse gases and other damaging pollutants as do the spin-offs of burning fossil gas for power. Renewable resource such as solar energy, water power and also wind power, while the extensive discussion of which is new, are anything but new.

In both freshly creating and also very created nations wind, sun and water have actually long been made use of as source of power, though not to the level of providing the main energy resource for huge municipal neighborhoods.

The mass manufacturing of such eco-friendly energy is become commonplace in current years as increasingly more people involve recognize how environment is altering as a result of the contamination of nonrenewable fuel source gases, due to the exhaustion of the schedule of these nonrenewable fuel sources as well as the social and political concerns of power resources such as nuclear power.

Many nations and non-profit environmentally-conscious organizations are motivating the usage of renewable resource sources by passing legislation on tax rewards for their usage as well as aids to balance out the included expenditure of transforming from nonrenewable fuel source to renewable power.

The circulation of renewable resource involves sensations that take place naturally in our world. Tides, warm, wind as well as sunlight acquired by geothermal incidents all give eco-friendly energy. Each of these power sources is one-of-a-kind both in where we can utilize them as well as exactly how.

The earths atmospheric system remains in such balance that the heat that it provides off emits into area to an amount equal to the radiation that concerns earth from the sunlight.

The outcome of this power level within the atmosphere is approximately equated to the environment of the earth. The water of the planet, additionally described its hydrosphere, soaks up a great deal of the radiation that involves us from the sun.

Most of the radiation gets taken in at the reduced latitudes of the planet that exist around the equator. This power gets dissipated all around the world, nonetheless, in the form of ocean and wind currents.

The movement of the ocean waves might have a role in transference of mechanical power in between the ocean and the earths environment by method of wind stress. Solar power likewise offers the means whereby rainfalls is dispersed as well as after that tapped by hydroelectric power jobs as well as plant development that after that creates biofuels.

But, one more frequently overlooked device in the global armoury against climate modification is Anaerobic Digestion, which is the main topic of this web site.

What Options Exist for Renewable Energy?

We already know that the use of electricity, gas and coal are all resources that we may eventually run out of. These are the non-renewable resources that we rely heavily on today. We use these non-renewable resources to do many things, including supplying us with power, heating our homes, businesses and schools and more. When we use all the non-renewable resources up and there are no more to gather, then what? How will we go without the convenience that we are so accustomed to? It’s nice to flip a switch to get power and it is even better when the latest technology allows us to press a button to do all the things that women and men had to work for hours to accomplish. We are fortunate to live in a world with so many modern gadgets. Unfortunately when we lose it we may be so accustomed to the modern perks that we will not know what to do when we don’t have them any longer.

What we have to rely on in the future is renewable resources. These resources are all resources that offer us an abundant supply and will never run out. They recharge and allow us to enjoy them again and again. The renewable resources consist of Solar, Wind, Biomass, Hydrogen, Geothermal, Ocean, and Hydropower We need all of these and right now we have access to each one of them. What do they do and how do they help us with solar power? Let’s find out.

Solar refers to the solar energy that we get everyday either directly or indirectly from the sun. Solar energy can be used for several things, such as heating, electricity to home, schools, businesses, or buildings, heating water, cooling and ventilation.

Wind helps the suns heat down to earth. When the wind combines with the heat of the sun, it causes evaporation. When the water turns into precipitation it produces energy that can then be captured by hydropower.

Hydropower takes energy from flowing water and captures it turning it into electricity. Hydropower is very complicated and requires a great deal of technology in order to successfully accumulate energy from water.

Biomass is an organic matter that can help to make up the plants. It can be used for the production of electricity, transport fuels or chemicals.

Hydrogen is the most abundant element found on earth, usually with other elements. If hydrogen is found alone it can be burned or converted into electricity.

Geothermal looks toward the inner parts of the earth for heat and can be used for power, heating, and cooling.

Ocean produces thermal energy using the heat from the sun. It can also use mechanical energy for the tides and waves.

As you can see the renewable resources are all around us. We know what they do and how we can use them. There are so many benefits to using renewable resources. If we don’t use them now we may not have a choice later. The knowledge we learn from today will help us use the energy more wisely.

Anaerobic Digestion Makes Renewable Energy From Rubbish

A Waste Management system which is suitable for processing mixed (black bag) waste has been developed from technology first developed in Israel. Here are a few anaerobic digestion facts about this technology.

It recovers resources from waste while producing renewable energy and helping to reduce carbon emissions. In other words it releases energy from our rubbish, and reduces the quantity of rubbish which might otherwise be sent to landfill, while at the same time reducing climate change.

This is truly a win-win situation!

The ArrowBio process has been developed through a series of pilot and demonstration plants to a level ready to be used commercially in many countries, and is best described as a water-based mechanical biological treatment (MBT) facility with energy recovery.

ArrowBio’s process has been developed in such a way that it can either be used as a stand-alone solution or in conjunction with other technologies. For example it can be sited within sustainable energy parks to provide a source of energy as well as recycled materials for further processing. The recycled materials are re-used as feedstock by the other businesses based within the park to create a variety of products.

Two Stage Anaerobic Digestor

ArrowBio sets out to fully recover and wash the recyclable elements of the waste, so it should be favoured by environmental groups which tend to object to alternative processes which handle mixed waste, like incineration, on the basis that the ability of incineration to handle mixed wastes reduces the necessity to separate and recycle. The argument is that incineration makes it too easy to neglect recycling, so it should not be used.

The process has at its core a two stage anaerobic digestor which has been optimized for better energy yield than competing systems, from every unit mass of organic matter processed.

Extracting the maximum available gas yield, is in fact a stated primary aim of the ArrowBio processs.

This is recognised as good policy environmentally, and of course the gas and, or electricity generates revenue, which helps to pay for the upkeep of the plant.

The process consists of two distinct yet integrated components: a “front-end” wet Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and a “back-end’ advanced anaerobic digestion system.

The wet MRF combines standard solid waste handling technology in combination with liquid and slurry pumping, water based processing facilitates, passive separation, and cleaning of recyclables and their automatic conveyance around the facility, while also suppressing odours and dust.

In the wet MRF, the action of the water cleans, and recovers, ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals and plastics separated by type. These are then sorted into recycled materials of various grades that can be sold directly into the recycling market.

A “hydrocrusher” has also been successfully developed by ArrowBio which forms part of the wet (anaerobic) process. In effect the biodegradable waste is jetted with high pressure jets of water through a series of pipes. Food and paper is torn apart, greatly increasing the surface area available to biological action, while simultaneously suspending the organic chemicals in a watery solution.

Any waste that is not recoverable or that is not sent through the anaerobic digesters exits from the ArrowBio facility as a residue, and is normally present in only in minor quantities.

The first part of ArrowBio’s anaerobic digestion process is known as the acidogenic stage, and the second is a methanogenic stage. The biomass achieves optimum efficiency compared with single tank AD, and optimisation of pH levels, temperature and residence times is achieved automatically.

The plant has low emissions. The ArrowBio design needs no costly gas scrubbing stage, and the largely water borne technique does not produce the troublesome (dust, odour, etc) emissions experienced from some other processes.

Recognition of the sustainability benefits of Anaerobic Digestion in releasing energy from our trash is rising fast.

Find out more about this technology for the future, at the Anaerobic Digestion Community web site, and more about the ArrowBio AD Process as well.

Conclusion to A Review Renewable Resource Sources

Saving energy and recycling makes perfect sense, and it’s no surprise that there are now companies devoting themselves to green electronics and energy sustainability. After all, it’s good PR and makes economic sense. But it goes farther than that. There are now even companies that sell both digital electronics AND renewable energy products. It’s easy to see how a firm belief in renewable energy, conservation and sound energy policies may drive an environmentally conscious business owner to sell items like solar and wind energy products as well as digital electronics made by companies that have realized that business and society are interdependent and thus embraced green technology.

What is “green technology?” It can be products certified for low emissions, products certified to be more energy-efficient (like the Energy Star pledge and standard), or products using solar chargers or other energy saving technologies. It can also mean support of companies that are actively “going green” by increasing recyclable content, removing environmentally harmful substances, using renewable energy in the production cycle, and supporting environmental conservation causes and projects.

Why would companies go green? Because it’s not only the right thing to do, but also because it’s an increasing competitive advantage to be seen as a green company that cares about the environment. Just like a lot of consumers reject pesticides and insist on organically grown food products, more and more consumers insist on buying green, energy-efficient technology from companies that care. It’s good to know that megahits like iPhones and Wii gaming consoles are made by such companies.

What we’re seeing here is really an inevitable, accelerating trend towards smarter, greener and more efficient and conscientious consumption. We all must fight waste and embrace clean, sustainable, renewable energy.
